Attractions near Mall Road

On Mall Road, you can immerse yourself in the beauty of these majestic hills. However, if you have not had enough and want more, these places are a good option for you:

1. Scandal Point: At this point, Mall Road meets Ridge Road on the west side. A statue of the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai has been erected here. Next to the Scandal Point is the Shimla General Post Office. It would be interesting to know how the place got its name. The Maharaja of Patiala eloped from here with the daughter of a British Viceroy, which caused a lot of commotion and so people started calling the area 'Scandal Point'.

2. Gaiety Theatre: Several famous film personalities have performed here. Although the theatre has since been renovated, the original structure has remained untouched to preserve the heritage and natural beauty of this place.

3. Kali Bari Temple: A wooden image of Goddess Kali, to whom this temple is dedicated, is worshipped here. Visit this temple to experience a dose of spirituality and religion.

4. The Town Hall: This colonial-era architectural marvel adds to the beauty of the surrounding pre-independence architectural remains and is a must-see for all admirers of artistry and structural design.

Jakhoo Temple, Shimla

Amidst the lush greenery of the Shivalik range of hills on Jakhoo Hill, the highest point of Shimla, lies the Jakhu Temple, an ancient site dedicated to the Hindu god Hanuman. The Jakhu Temple houses the largest statue of Hanuman in the world, which can be seen from most parts of Shimla.
